Founded in 1989, The Heights of Horseshoe, located on 102 acres of land in beautiful Oro-Medonte Township, features 27 private runs - ranging from green to double black diamond.
Rumour has it that the original owner of the property acquired it after doing extensive studies over a four-year period. He enlisted the help of hundreds of farmers across the province and had them measure and record the snow that fell, the dates and the duration of the time that the snow stayed on the ground. At completion of this long study, he came to the conclusion that the best snow in Ontario was in a little town known as Hungry Hollow.
Once the property was purchased, the new owner went for a stroll one day, stood atop a hill looking out over his newly acquired property and realized that he needed a name for this vast land. As he gazed out over the hills with the lush forests and span of green valley, he noticed a familiar shape, a horseshoe. It was with this thought, that the community of Horseshoe Valley was born. The valley’s picturesque settings and rolling hills determined its destiny as the fabulous Alpine and Nordic site we have all come to love.
Over the years, many people have visited the area to enjoy what Mother Nature has blessed us with here at the Heights. The memories that have been shared and continue to be created within families, generation after generation, speak for themselves. However, we understand that some need to see it to believe it.
We are a private country club that is committed to quality ski and continuous improvement while providing members an recreational and social experience in a friendly and comfortable environment.
Making Our Dream A Reality
What started as a vision exercise many years earlier, was one step closer to reality on July 23, 2016. The Heights took on the ambitious goal of renovating our existing building, including the addition of a beautiful post and beam ski lodge.
Since that time, our clubhouse has become a symbol of our strength as a club and its a proof point to our mission to continuously seek ways to improve the experience for our members and their families. Today, with our renovation complete and new structure in place, the clubhouse experience has become as big a part of the Heights' experience as the hill itself.
We now have a clubhouse that can sustain the growth of our membership and ensure enjoyment and lasting memories for decades to come.
